Range is a difficult thing to state, This depends on factors such as Line of sight, Weather conditions, Terrain and power output of the radio, Also the receiving quality of the radio receiving the transmission and their geographical location.
We have run tests with our Rexon PRS radios and standing on top of a hill with a clear line of sight to the other Rexon PRS radio on the flat with no obstructions the range was 40+km. When we tested them with no line of sight and obstructions such as big buildings, trees etc: the range was approx 9km.
Of course if you are in a gully with steep sides and a heavy bush canopy then the range can be as low as 1km.
A good rule of thumb is to take the power output and equal that to distance. E.g.: 4W power output is equal to 4km in most conditions.
Our PRS radios are at the top end of the power output range; also they come with a tuned antenna which is tuned ideally for the 476Mhz PRS frequency.
All of this ensures the Rexon PRS to be one of the most Rugged and Versatile PRS radios on the market today.
